In some versions of the myth she was the goddess who created pretty much everything in the beginning. Which meant, yes, she created Ouranos, and yes she did… do the nasty with him in order to create a whole bunch of titan babies (who in turn created the olympians making her a cool granny of sorts). She also asked one of these titan children, Kronos, to castrate Ouranos because he was being ridiculously clingy, hugging his wife and refusing to let her go (while his penis was still, erm, inside her). Listen, I would have been annoyed too. Cut that shit out.
She didn’t want herself tied down to just one man. She was ready to have kids with various dudes creating monster babies, giants, cyclopses and suchlike. She had to keep her options open.
